Bookbinding

I believe books should be nice to look at but, most importantly, they should be inviting to the reader. There's nothing more upsetting to me than a book that just sits on the shelf unused. With that in mind I bind books that look handsome on the shelf and still invite the reader open them up and read them.

I use archival materials and hand binding techniques in creating unique and beautiful books that will last decades, if not longer.

A little wear and tear over the years only increases the beauty of a well bound book.

These are some examples of work I've done for clients or for myself.

Shadow of the Wind Leather label, marbled paper and custom traycase.	The Divine Madman Bound in hand-loomed Japanese Kasuri Ikat cotton cloth originally intended for a Kimono.
The Book of Lies Dark green split goatskin cover with handset titling and ornamentation. Set in Ludlow Eusebius and Eusebius Open.	The Book of Lies Interior endsheet by Ann Muir, perhaps the last sheet available in the world. Matching bookmark made from left over scraps.
Ulysses I rebound my tattered old copy of Ulysses in full blue leather with gold titling. While I was at it, I also rebound a slightly later edition while preserving the great front cover lettering.	Notebook A simple notebook bound in Alum Tawed Goatskin with debossed titling. The typeface is Ludlow Bodoni Bold Condensed and Italic set by hand at Woodside Press.
Notebook Interior Screenprinted wallpaper samples were used to line out the notebook.	Notebook Detail The leather takes a really nice impression.
